At NC Open Gym, we recently completed a Hero workout in honor of Deputy Sheriff Ryan Hendrix, a beloved father and partner. The Hero WOD is a special type of workout that is dedicated to honoring the sacrifice of military, law enforcement, and first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty. This particular Hero WOD hits close to home in a couple ways. Deputy Hendrix served locally at the Henderson County Sheriff's Office and is the relative to one of our members. It was a powerful and moving tribute to Ryan, and we are proud to share some highlights from the workout.
Deputy Hendrix was shot on September 10, 2020 while responding to a call in Mountain Home, NC.
Deputy Hendrix was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He had served with the Henderson County Sheriff's Office for eight years, years, most recently as a Patrol Shift Detective and as a member of the SWAT Team. He is survived by his two children and fiancée.
